Synopsis: Based on Li's best selling autobiography, MAO'S LAST DANCER is the epic story of a young poverty stricken boy from China and his inspirational journey to international stardom as a world-class dancer.
The story begins when a young Li is taken from his peasant home by the Chinese government and chosen to study ballet in Beijing. Separated from his family and enduring countless hours of practice, Li struggles to find his place in the new life he has been given. I have seen this more than once and I can sincerely say that this might one of the best autobiographical films I have ever seen. I want to meet this man. I was to have long and deep conversations about his story. I want to be his best friend. I am so envious and in awe of his talent and the film did a beautiful job sharing his story.
I highly recommend it when you are feeling the need to feel inspired.
