Game of Thrones


Set in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, where "summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime,"  chronicles the violent dynastic struggles among the kingdom's noble families for control of the Iron Throne; as the series opens, additional threats from the snow and ice covered region north of Westeros and from the eastern continent across a narrow sea are simultaneously beginning to rise.

This is our newest addiction.  It's rare that John and I both like the same show but this one nailed it for both of us.  John has already read the books and seems to think that the show is doing a good job of relaying the story without omitting too much of the important details.  I'm going to have to try to track it down and read them for myself.  We finished the whole season already and so I'm hoping the books will help satiate my curiosity for what happens next.  Or...should I just wait for the next season....

The "good" characters seem to be more human in their anxieties and reactions whereas the "bad" characters seem to be relentlessly bad for no other reason than they can be, like little King Joffrey, who seems to be a relatively new actor according to his imdb.com listing.  I am most impressed however, with the actress that plays Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke.  And the dragons at the end crawling all around her!  That's some great CGI there.  I can't wait for the next season....


For now, I asked John to start calling me Callisi...
